Expert trainer and lector in the “ St John” Laparoscopic Training Center– leaded by Professor Corneliu Dragomirescu: Since 1995, the experience over 16 years of practice counts: 7 courses per year, 12 to 20 participants per course, more than 1200 trainees/ participants. This record is recognized as the largest activity of a laparoscopic training center in Romania.
Most of the courses were including training activities on live pigs. The theoretical lectures and live operations transmissions from different ORs are organized in dedicated Conference Rooms; the animal laboratory is set up in the Faculty of Veterinary School.
Between 1995 and 2000, the above mentioned Laparoscopic Training Center was the Reference Training Center of Olympus in Romania.
Between 2001 up to now (2011), the Laparoscopic Training Center has been the Reference Training Center of Karl Storz in Romania.
The activity of the Laparoscopic Training Center of has been increased in 2009, since the Center ‘s activity was endorsed by the Romanian Association of Endoscopic Surgery (RAES) . The RAES Laparoscopic Training Center has more than 50 local and international experts, an yearly increasing number of participants - from Romania and countries around – and a wide range of minimally access training activities (including NOTES, bariatric surgery, gynecological procedures, urology etc)
